Get to know him

Originally from Zambia, Webby was raised in a Christian family in a predominantly Catholic region. His life took a turn when, at a young age, he encountered missionaries in his village. Their love and dedication deeply touched him. Despite being a child at the time, the impact of their work left Webby with a desire to follow in their footsteps. As Webby continued his studies, a friend prompted him to reflect on his purpose in life. Webby shared, « I want to be like those people who came to my village. » but at the time he did not know who they were. Years went by and they came back, and Webby came to know the Lord through their preaching, got baptised and followed the call for missions. In 2020, Webby completed his Mission Discipleship Training with Operation Mobilisation Zambia. Then, he dedicated himself to sports ministry in Lake Tanganyika, using his passion for sports as a means to connect with and serve communities. In 2021, Webby served aboard the OM Logos Hope, in the book fair that traveled across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. He played a pivotal role in setting up the new vessel, the Doulos Hope, in Asia, serving as a team leader for the book fair.

Now, Webby is preparing to return home to Zambia, driven by a calling to serve in sports and teaching among the youth.

His ministry

Webby will primarily be involved with OM Lake Tanganyika, focusing on engaging with leadership, sports, ministering in prisons, and reaching out to villages. With a desire to welcome workers and serve as a translator in Shahiri, a Tanzanian language, for short-term workers, Webby aims to share the good news with people who have never heard it by pursuing this objective through indigenous church planting and discipleship training. The practical ministries encompass sports ministry, an orphan school, a mobile medical clinic boat, prison ministry, refugee support, children’s and youth ministry, and hosting outreaches.

Recognizing the affinity of the younger generation for sports, we have devised a strategy to utilize sports as a tool for connecting with people. Sports have a unique ability to bring individuals together, offering opportunities for teaching, mentorship, and leadership development. With a calling to not only know Christ but also to make Him known to others in Lake Tanganyika.
